Gurry Wurry

Gurry Wurry is the solo project of Scottish indie-psych-pop pedlar Dave King. Featured on BBC 6 Music, Apple Music’s New In Alternative, Hype Machine’s Top 10, Tom Robinson’s Fresh on The Net, acclaimed by the likes of Snack Magazine, Clunk and Is This Music, and championed by the BBC’s Roddy Hart and Vic Galloway – making Vic’s 2023 Albums of The Year, 2024 Albums of the Year, and 2025 Artists to Watch.

The vibe sits in a half-dreamt world where a California breeze blows through the streets of Leith. A world where Randy Newman digs The Beta Band. And Steely Dan go lo-fi. Where Kraftwerk share a writers’ room with John Martyn and Thelonious Monk. It’s upbeat music that can’t quite shrug off the sadness. Covering everything from car crashes to fly-tipping, ageing to infidelity – the songs are never far from falling apart. The dissonant harmonies, the loose timing, the delicate voice. But somehow it all keeps going. Almost oblivious to its own frailty.
